David Snyder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by K.V. Knopp Funeral Home on Mar. 29, 2026.
David Allen Snyder, 79, of Allentown, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026 in St. Luke's Hospital – Allentown Campus. He and his wife, Judith A. (Gutekunst) Snyder, shared nearly 55 years of marriage.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Neri and Margaret (Rohrbach) Snyder. Dave was a 1965 graduate of William Allen High School and received an Associate's degree in Civil Engineering from Lehigh Carbon Community College. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Dave worked as a civil engineer with the City of Allentown for 44 years until retiring.

Dave's passion was photography – a hobby spanning nearly 55 years from the time he bought his first camera in Vietnam. He especially enjoyed photographing local musicians. This was only enhanced by the love that Dave and Judy found in traveling across the country to attend many musical events and Blues Festivals.

Dave was most proud of his years spent coaching. He was a member of the Allentown Recreation Board, as well as member and board member of the A-YOUTH program. He enjoyed coaching Mountainville and Dieruff girls softball and basketball. Dave was also an active bowler and bowling coach, playing on the City Hall Bowling League for 50 years.

Survivors: His loving wife, Judy; daughters, Jennifer L. Webber of Catasauqua, Sara A. Smey and her husband Adam of Catasauqua; brother, Philip Snyder and his wife Patricia of Audubon, New Jersey; 3 grandchildren, Makena, Evan and Charlie Webber.

Services: A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2026 in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, 46 E. Susquehanna Street, Allentown. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Dave to Godfrey Daniels, 7 E. 4th Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015 (www.godfreydaniels.org) or to WDIY 88.1 Lehigh Valley Public Radio, 301 Broadway, 3rd Floor, Bethlehem, PA 18015 (www.WDIY.org).
