Bernard Hammond Obituary
Bernard K. Hammond, 52, of Hamburg, passed away May 24, 2013 at the Reading Hospital. He was born October 10, 1960 the son of the late William A. Hammond Jr. and Agnes Wilhemenia Hammond. Bernard was a member of St, James Chapel Church of God in Christ in Reading. He was employed by Buckeye Partners LP from 1992 until the time of his passing. He was a Reading High School Graduate class of 1978 and attended Morgan St. University for two years and also attended Drexell University for a year. Bernard loved football he was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Mathus) Hammond, whom he wed on May 16, 1987. Bernard is also survived by his two daughters, Chloe Oram and her husband Alan of Atlanta, GA, and Raylynn Hammond of Hamburg; and a grandson, Christopher Bernard Oram. In addition he is survived by his brothers and sisters, William A. Hammond of Elkins Park, Maxine Smith and her husband William of Exeter Twp., Karen Bowers and her husband James of W. Reading, Tanya Kama and her husband Benjamin of W. Reading, Tommie Hampton of Reading and Wayne Workman of Reading. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins along withhis god-children, Brittany Lozanne and Kayla Simmons. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Bowen, Diane Ali, and Barbara Hammond. Services: Friends and family will be recieved at the Auman Funeral Home, Reading on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the St. James Chapel Church of God in Christ, 11 S. 9th Street, Reading, PA 19602 on Friday at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be in the Forest Hills Memorial Park.www.theoaumaninc.com.

Hello dad , you are safe in heaven now. you were the best father any little girl could have and you did whatever you could to make me and Chloe happy. You are my guardian angel and I know you talk to me from time to time.. I know I am safe because you are always here. Cheryl and Family, I was truly blessed to have worked with Bernie for the past 14 years. He always lifted the spirts of the people around him. He was like family to many of us at Buckeye and will be missed. Bernard was proud of you guys and often spoke about all of you, especially his new grandson, he was overjoyed to tell everyone that he was now a "G-Pap". I will always have good memories of him.

To Cheryl, Chloe, Raylynn and the Hammond family: Clearly no words can express my saddness over Bernie's passing. I just found out yesterday. I have many fond memories of him and his infectious laugh! I still remember going to the wedding. Reading will never be the same with Bernie gone. I still remember all the times I saw Mr. Hammond at Holy Name - always cheering for the Blue Jays and always had such kind words for everyone.
