Betty Wieder Obituary

Betty K. Wieder, 82, formerly of Emmaus, died Jan. 3 in Phoebe Home, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Lewis W. Wieder. A 1942 graduate of Allentown Hospital School of Nursing, she was a pediatric registered nurse for 30 years for the offices of Dr. Hilda Ruch and Dr. Forrest G. Moyer, both of Allentown. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Nathan H. and Mabel (Brobst) Kleckner. She was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown. She served with the Army Nurse Corps in Europe during World War II, attaining the rank of 1st lieutenant. She was a member of the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and the 74th General Hospital Reunion. Survivors: Daughter, Ann Louise Merino of Woodstock, Ga.; sisters, Jeanette Silfies of Tullahoma, Tenn., Ruth Spencer of Havre de Grace, Md., Madeline Raab of Allentown. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Horace W. Schantz Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Emmaus. Call 9-11 Thursday. Contributions: Phoebe Home.
