Camilla Ryan Obituary
Camilla L. (Harikal) Ryan, 83, of Bethlehem Township, died Thursday, July 9, 2009 in the Hospice of the V.N.A. of St. Lukes, Bethlehem. Born November 25, 1925 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of Leona M. (Dowgiallo) and Stephen J. Harikal. She was married for 52 years to the late James J. Ryan. Camilla graduated as a registered nurse from Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. She worked for St. Agnes Hospital, White Plains, N.Y; St. Josephs Hospital and Smith House Nursing Home, both in Stamford, Conn., retiring in 1974. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Bethlehem Township. Camilla was an avid Bingo player and loved gardening. Survivors: Camilla will be lovingly remembered by her son, James S. Ryan; daughter, Patricia, wife of Joel Derk; brother, Stephen J. Harikal Jr. and his wife, Ann. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Megan, Andrea and Kelly; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn. Services: A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Road, Bethlehem, 18020 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. It is a very difficult task to write and say how sorry I am to hear of Camilla's death. We grew up together. Went to the same school, were friends with the same people. It leaves a hole. My deepest sympathy to all of you. God's peace be unto you.
