Carlos Cosme Obituary
Carlos Matos Cosme, 88, of Bethlehem, PA passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 in his home. He was born June 28, 1923 in Villalba, Puerto Rico to the late Petronila (Cosme) and Antonio Matos. He was married to Catalina (Ocasio) Cosme with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage this past August 1st. Carlos served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II. He went onto work for the Bethlehem Steel as a door machine operator in the Coke Works. He was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church in Bethlehem where he was an Euchristic Minister and was actively involved with the Cursillo Movement, Marriage Encounter and the Holy Name Society. He was also a lifetime member of the Puerto Rican Benefit Society. Survivors: Carlos will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Catalina; sons, Nelson Matos and wife Carmen of East Allen Township and Alfredo Freddie Matos of Bethlehem; daughters, Catherine wife of Eddie Rivera of Bethlehem Township, Nilsa Santos of Allentown and Nereida Matos of Puerto Rico, step brother, Chago of Bethlehem and four sisters all of Puerto Rico. Carlos is also survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Carlos was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters. Services: A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 12-1 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Infancy Catholic Church 312 E. Fourth St. Bethlehem, PA 18015 at 1:30 p.m. Burial with military honors will be at Holy Savior Cemetery in Bethlehem. Papa,
You were a great person, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. You will be greatly missed. I will cherish all the memories that you gave us over all those wonderful years.
