Carol Kiefer Obituary

Carol A. Kiefer
Carol A. Kiefer, 61, of Emmaus, formerly of Blue Bell, PA and Los Gatos, CA, died June 23, 2013 in her home. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Virginia L. (Olberding) Kiefer and the late Stephen H. Kiefer. She graduated from Parkland High School and received a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Penn State University. Carol, a software engineer, loved her work in various aspects of the computer field over a 27-year career with Digital Equipment Corporation, Touch Communications, Oracle Corporation, and Giavaneers. She felt a great affinity for the Silicon Valley. Among her special joys was sailing on San Francisco Bay, planning and building her beautiful flower gardens at her home in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and going for long runs with her Golden Retriever dogs. Although she lived in the Lehigh Valley area for the past seven years, Carol always considered herself a California Girl. Survivors: Mother; brother, John A. and wife, Patti (Black), Freeville, NY; sister, Holly E. Scofield and husband, Donald, Columbia, SC; niece, Allison Kiefer, Washington, D.C. area; aunts; cousins; many friends, all who loved her. Services: Will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. www.stephensfuneral.com. Contributions: Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue, 60 Vera Cruz Rd., Reinholds, PA 17569, or animal shelter of donors choice.

Condolences to all who loved Carol. I'm so glad to have shared sailing, gardening, walks in the mountains, computers, dogs, long talks, and her wonderful sense of humor. I miss her, and will honor those memories.

I was a good friend of Carol for many years and worked with her at DEC when she lived in Mtn. View. She was generous and loving, smart and funny. She made a big difference in my life as well as others around her. We sailed together on the Bay many times. I'm so sorry she's gone.

My condolences to Carol's family. She was a high school friend with an infectious smile. I'm so glad that I got the opportunity to chat with her last summer at our class's 60th birthday party. God Bless!

I give my condolences to Carol's family. I spoke with her at our mini-reunion last August in PA. Carol was a shining star from Parkland HS. Very smart, funny and cool. I was glad to reconnect with her last Summer and hope she is in peace now.

Love,

I'm sure I represent the sentiment of Carol's classmates when I say that she decked the halls of Parkland High School with her beauty, brilliance and sunny personality. My condolences to family and friends.
