Charles J. Shamenek, 99, of Nazareth, formerly of Bethlehem, died on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Easton Hospital in Easton. Charles was born in Bethlehem and was the son of the late Stephen and Frances (Korpics) Shamenek. Charles worked for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a inspector for several years and for Boing Aircraft Corporation as an inspector retiring after 45 years of service. Charles was a star football player for Bethlehem High School where he graduated from in 1928. Survivors: Charles will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Louise Loyal and Susan; a sister Helen I. Kresge of Allentown; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles is predeceased by his parents, nine brothers, Frank, Stephen, John, Joseph, George, Louis, George, Thomas, and Daniel, four sisters, Mother Mary Irmina Shamenek O.S.F., Anna P. Gerras, Theresa Kruszewski, and Frances Shamenek. Services: A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, at St. Stephens of Hungary Catholic Church, 5th and Union Sts., Allentown, followed by committal service at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem. Online condolences may be made at www.connellfuneral.com. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Stephens of Hungary Catholic Church, or The A.R.C. of Lehigh and Northampton Counties, 2289 Avenue A, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
