Charles H. Shoemaker, 88, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in Sacred Heart by the Creek, Northampton. He was the husband of Florence Shoemaker for 61 years. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late George and Edith (Ravert) Shoemaker. He served in the Navy as weatherman in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. He retired from the Federal Government in 1978 after working for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for 34 years as a weatherman. He was a member of Rosemont Lutheran Church, serving as a Deacon for many years. He was ordained as a Lutheran minister in 2007. Survivors: A daughter, Bonnie, wife of David Snell, of Stafford, Virginia; son, Eric, husband of Melinda (Yost) of Walnutport, Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Erin Vahle and Jenna Shoemaker; grandsons, Jason Snell and Elijah Shoemaker; great-granddaughters, Brittany Villarreal and Arianna Snell, and grandson Leonardo Vahle. Services: Funeral services shall be held Monday, April 18, 2011 at 2 p.m. Rosemont Lutheran Church, 1705 W. Broad St., Bethlehem.
