Constance Jones Obituary

Constance J. (Craig) Jones, affectionately known as Connie, 72, of Slatington passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest surrounded by her loved ones. Connie was born in Slatington on February 4, 1951, to the late Clinton Craig and Claire (Serfass) Craig. She was a loving wife to Barry Jones for 54 years. Connie graduated from Northern Lehigh High School in 1969 and immediately started what ended up being a 30-year career at the Allentown State Hospital as a ward clerk. During her time at ASH, which she always spoke about fondly, she achieved the distinction of being named Employee of the Year twice. Additionally, despite having chronic health problems and two separate kidney transplants, Connie also attained perfect attendance multiple times. These accolades were a testament to her admirable work ethic and fighting spirit. Connie enjoyed her daily phone chats with her close family members and spending time with her beloved daughter, Sara (wife to Don), and three grandchildren, Madelyn, Dylan, and Reese, who she absolutely adored. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Cape May and Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and while in better health, baking. She loved celebrating Halloween with a trick-or-treat party, Christmas with a cookie-exchange, and her sweet tooth was always up for chocolate or a special treat. Connie lived in Killeen, Texas for one year after her husband returned from combat in Vietnam and completed duty at Ft. Hood. She was so proud of him for valiantly serving our country. Connie was also a lifelong member of St. Johns UCC Church in Slatington. Her spiritual faith gave her strength and provided peace. Connie will always be remembered for her heart of gold, determined mindset, quick wit, and loving nature. Survivors: Husband, Barry; daughter, Sara J. Yoder and husband Donald of Doylestown, PA; brother, Clinton (Butch) Craig and his wife, Chris, of Slatington, three grandchildren, and loving nieces and nephews and aunts who were like sisters to her including Marie Kistler, Darlene Musselman, Cathy Serfass, and Barbara Howell, and cousin, Judy Rex. Services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second Street, Slatington. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10 to 11AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington. Connie loved flowers but contributions can be made to the Lupus Foundation of America or American Kidney Foundation
