My condolences to you on the loss of your late husband Darryl Peters. He and I were very good friends there in the San Diego area. We were in the Marine Corps Reserves (4th Tank Bn). We also attended Southwestern Junior College as well as San Diego State University. I also bought many parts from him at Chellies Auto Parts. I got some software to look up former classmates for my graduating class's reunion and decided to look up people I had know in the past. I was saddened to see the news of his passing. Too young to say the least. Bill Kelly

Only yesterday, Friday, November 8, 2017 had I heard the news. Darryl was a virtual (slightly) older brother to me and others. As another mourner commented: it's like part of me has gone into the void ahead of time... RIP my friend!

Darryl worked for me at ACT and ASHLAND / ACT. He was an excellent chemist with a soft voice and demeanor. He was creative and always dedicated to ACT and the growth of our business and technology. I did not know Darryl well outside of work, but he always gave his all in what he did. We kept in touch on an irregular basis after most of the ACT people left when it was sold to API. It was always nice to hear from Darryl and how he kept his career growing in later years.
My deepest condolences to his wife and entire family. I know he will be sorely missed by so many.

I feel like a part of me is gone. We would always talk about the old days when we both were running around in our souped up cars in Allentown and elsewhere. I had a Mercury Comet and he had a Ford Galaxy. I'll miss going to the hot rod shows with him, we would talk about almost every car at a show and how we might either have used a bigger motor or perhaps different tires on them. We shared a lot with the models, it was a way we could connect with our shared past as motor heads. I'll miss him greatly.

I worked with Darryl at Ashland. He was my boss and later my colleague. He was a brilliant man and we had very exiting discussions on chemical processes. It was nice to meet and have lunch with him in Baltimore a little over a year ago. I will miss Darryl and may his soul rest in peace.

Darryl started at Ashland ACT a few years after me. I was a lab tech then. Although I never worked directly under him, Darryl always showed me friendship and gave me plenty of his time and advice as I rose through supervisor to management. We also spent a goodly amount of time socially both locally and when traveling for Ashland and I often, until this day, think of those times today. When I left Ashland he was one of only a handful of coworkers that checked in on me. I know that he would poo-poo me getting too religious here but please give me this moment to let you all know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am truly sorry for your loss. Please let me know if there will be any public remembrance.

Darryl was my boss when I worked at Ashland Chemical. He the best boss I ever worked for. He was a brilliant man, a great mentor, and a great friend. We could talk about anything from Chemistry to cars. He would show me models he was working on or completed. The detail he would put in to his models was unbelievable. He taught me a lot working at Ashland and I will never forget that. We both left Ashland but we would still get together time to time for lunches and catch up. I will miss Darryl but I know I am a better person today because of my time with him.
Rest in Peace
