Dear Diana, Dawn & Daniele

I've never read more inspirational words than what Dawn wrote about her Dad. We all know, too well, the horrific emptiness one feels when we no longer have the ones we love with us. But, we do know they are at peace, smiling down on all of us. And, yes, no one smiled bigger than Dennis! I look back on our childhood days, North Second Street in Hokey - The Silvius boys sled-racing the Martin clan down Second Street when it snowed - I, of course, being the only girl. Dennis always telling me I did good, smiling, of course, and me taking the digs from my two brothers. Diana, as a friend since gradeschool, to you dating Dennis in highschool, attending weddings, and raising our own children, will always be treasured memories for me. Dennis' contagious smile, and kind words are set in stone! Most importantly, a huge thank you to both Dennis and you, Diana, for always making my Kelly feel welcomed and loved in your home. You are in my prayers.

As we were looking through all of our pictures, one thing stood out...my dad's smile. He was always in such a good mood - even as he got sick, he still never complained.

If you ever received a compliment from my dad, you can feel good knowing that it was sincere. He only gave compliments if he truly meant them. One thing my dad always taught us is to think before you speak, this is something he always did.

He was so humble - on birthdays or Father's Day when he would read the cards we got him, with teary eyes, he would say "you're too good to me". And every year we would tell him they are all 100% true - every word.

My dad was the rock in our family. No matter what any of us said or did, he never judged and was always there for us. He would help my mom and you could see just how much he loved her. He was especially proud of their four grandboys and was an outstanding father figure for Mark. Pappy was so proud of the young boy Mark was turning in to and we can see all of the qualities of my dad that Mark aquired. Pappy was also proud of Jacob with his academics and sports. He would always say that Joshua was our secret smart boy who turned it on when we all least expect it. And Jaden, my dad would tell people that we met over the last couple of months that he is the youngest grandchild and the best behaved.

This past Christmas I had the priveledge to take my dad to his works' Christmas luncheon. I was the proud one, when I saw how respected and sincerely well liked and missed he was. My dad was so glad that we went.

As the nice weather approaches, we all will look forward to sitting on the back porch, my dad's favorite place other than the golf course. He enjoyed their home and yard so much. Every Friday night we all gather at my parents house and my Aunt Melissa and Uncle Jerry bring donuts. How my dad looked forward to a glazed donut....or two. I will also look into his yard and remember him sitting in the grass pulling all of the clover out, he couldn't stand it. This year we will make sure there is no clover, just as he would like it.

My dad would end a conversation with "be good" whether walking away or hanging up the phone. He was conscious of that - being good. He was a good husband, a good father, a good Pappy, a good father-in-law, a good friend and of course a good golfer. Celebrate his life, don't be sad for too long. He shot a hole in one because he is now with Jesus and not suffering anymore. Always enjoy your memories of him ........ and, "Be good".

Dad~

How terribly I miss you already. I will miss our car rides together, going for milkshakes at Burger King, our weekly cake purchase, seeing you in our living room on the new chair and just coming to your house and knowing you were downstairs watching tv. But I am at peace, because I know that you are no longer suffering. We will all take care of mom. As you were the rock of our family, she will now be, that is how you would want it. Til we meet again,

I love you!!! ~Dawn

Diana, Dawn, Daniele & Families,

Let me start by saying that I am in awe of your family's loving support and strength. I am proud to call you my friends and I am especially proud to say that Dennis is my friend. Dennis is one of those special (but rare) people that always made you feel good about who you were. I personally feel blessed to know all of you and to have been welcomed into your homes and treated like family over the years. Thank you all, for being who you are. Diana - you are a true inspiration to so many people and I see the same qualities in Dawn and Daniele. You are all so blessed to be Dennis' family, but just the same, he is blessed to have all of you. You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

Love,

Stacy

Diana and Family -

What a beautiful service that was today for Dennis, and hardly any dry eyes in the 'house'. The tributes to him were so befitting him .. he was a wonderful gentleman in all aspects. I'm glad for the chance to have been with you all at some of the family gatherings at Tim & Carol's - you have a family that will always stay together and Dennis' spirit will live on thru you. You are blessed with memories of him that no one can take away. My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with your family. Dennis will be missed. Nancy
