Earl Jamison Obituary

Earl Hart Jamison, 68, of Solebury Township, died June 7 in Bucks County. He was married to Margaret (Dager) Jamison for 26 years. He was owner and founder of Peddlers Village, Lahaska, Bucks County, which consists of 70 shops, six restaurants, a family entertainment center and the Golden Plough Inn. He opened Peddler's Village in June 1962 with 14 shops and the Cock 'n' Bull Restaurant. Jamison originally operated the restaurant himself and later hired a general manager. His annual 500,000-light holiday display, called Grand Illumination, was considered his gift to the community. In 2001, he researched, designed and opened Giggleberry Fair, a multi-faceted family-oriented center. In 2002, he was honored by the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce with a Lifetime Achievement Award-Ambassador of Bucks. In 1953, he started his first business, Bountiful Acres, a farm produce stand, in Holicong, which was sold in 1983. Born in Jamison, Warwick Township, he was a son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Froehlich) Jamison. Survivors: Wife; sons, Bradford of Hellertown, Kevin Hamilton of Solebury, Keith Hamilton in Bucks County; daughters, Sherri of Anaconda, Mont., Kim Ibarra of San Diego, Calif., Kelly Rood in Bucks County, Donna Cave of Buckingham, Bucks County, LeeAnn Jacobs of Alexandria, Va.; brother, Albert in Montgomery County; sister, Midge Smith in Bucks County; 18 grandchildren. Services: memorial, 10 a.m. Thursday on the Main Green at Peddler's Village. Arrangements, Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, New Britain, Bucks County. Contributions: James A. Michener Art Museum or to Bucks County Historical Society, both of Doylestown.
