Leggett, Edward ShegamiEdward Shegami Leggett, 66, of Catasauqua, died March 2, 2015, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Sherri (Soldrich) Leggett. He graduated from Catasauqua High School, where he played football, basketball and ran track and field. He earned an economics degree from Ursinus College. Edward had a great love of music and happily recalled riding his motorcycle to Woodstock in 1969. He was an avid golfer and proud of shooting two holes-in-one. His great sense of humor and encyclopedia-like mind will be greatly missed by his wife and their daughters, Cassidy and Natalie, whom he loved dearly. Survivors: wife Sherri; daughters Cassidy and Natalie, mother Shizuko Leggett; sister Betty Oswalt, sister Karen Fioriglio and her husband Patrick; sister Linda Gross and her husband Rudy; brother Michael Leggett; brother David Leggett and wife Carrie; and many nieces and nephews. Sherri, I was just trying to look you up and came across this. I am so sorry for you, Cassidy and Natalie. Ed was a really special guy. I know the hurt never really goes away, but I hope you are doing ok. I still remember him telling me that the moment he laid eyes on you that you were the one he was going to marry. I know it's been a while, but I do miss you!

I Googled Ed's name today in hopes of learning where he is working as a stylist now. I was shocked and grieved to hear of his passing. He was my hair stylist for well over 10 years. My belated condolences to his family about whom he talked lovingly often.

I'd known Ed for over 30 years! One of Ed's favorite films was Pulp Fiction. He reveled in the scene where John Travolta sported a "Banana Slugs" T-shirt. I will always get a laugh out of that! May Ed Rest in Peace!

So sad, thinking of you

July 25, 2015

Today I learned of Ed's passing and I am shocked and saddened. Eddie was my first boss in 1978 when I was a 15 year old kid. Hair Today was the salon to be at in Allentown and I thought it was so cool to be a shampoo girl there. My favorite memory was when a client came in and told Ed that she thought he looked like John Denver. We laughed for a long time on that one. He was a great boss and a nice guy.
I enjoyed running into him over the years.
My sincere condolences to his family for your loss, so very sad.

What a tremendous loss. My wife discovered Ed when he had his studio at 12th and Hamilton, which we walked to from our apartment two blocks away. This was when we moved to the Lehigh Valley in 1990. We've been going to him through all our respective moves while raising our families. I quoted him in an article I wrote for Parents magazine, and he figured into an article my wife and I did in McCalls on a "Very Married Date." He was such a generous person, loving father, wonderful conversationalist and, of course, an outstanding stylist in more ways than one. We're going to miss him dearly.

I was surprised to learn of Ed's passing today when I inquired about him from an old friend Carol Cannon. Memories of Ed go back to Hair Today a new salon that opened at 12th & Hamilton. My deepest sympathies to Ed's family and close friends. He was way to young to leave us. Your are in my thoughts and prayers.

Shizuko, Sherie, Cassidy, and Natalie,

I am shocked and so sorry to hear about Eddie's passing. We just got back in town earlier this week after visiting our daughter and her family in Ohio. We just found out today about Eddie. We will miss him dearly. He was a great friend and an amazing hair stylist. We met Eddie's mother many years ago through my Aunt, who was a very good friend with Shizuko. They both came over from Japan about the same time. We then met Eddie and his family about 20-25 years ago up at our cabin at Little Mud Pond. He will be sadly missed in many ways. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. We will keep Eddie in our prayers as well.

Sincerely,
Frank, Sallie, and Nicki (Ottinger) Koerbler

Words cannot describe my sadness at the news of Ed's passing. I was only a client, but looked upon him as a friend, I always left his shop happy. It was always a bonus to get a great hair cut and feel that my time had been well spent personally. It kept me coming back for more than 20 years. Such a bright, kind, funny man! I am certain he touched more lives than we will ever know. While I never met you, his family, I feel as though I know you. He spoke of you with uncontained pride and joy. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you. God Speed, Ed.

March 5, 2015

He was a master at his craft and a true mentor for me.The hair industry has lost a legend.May all your wondeful memories give you some peace and
comfort.Thank you Ed for sharing your passion, talent and spirit with us.You were an inspiration and definately lived life to the fullest.

To Leggett Family,
How my heart aches for your loss. Eddie was such a good natured person with many laughs & good spirit. He allows did his best to make a bad situation into a better one. He was kind hearted & had a hell of a talent in Cutting & styling hair!! I learned so much from working with him as his Shampoo girl. I would literally stand near his chair & watch him perform miracles on old, brittle, overly processed hair. A brand new person would stand up every time. He would find time to explain why & how to do any application or haircut so I would learn. By the time I finally graduated high school & went to cosmetology school, I knew what I was doing! haha (*note, I still can't cut a bob haircut if my life depended on it though! haha)When I graduated, He presented me with my very own brand new cutting sheers. The same type he used. I still own those sheers till this day. It will always have sentimental meaning to me.
I'm currently on Military orders & wont be able to make the viewing. Please send all my love & my deepest sympathy to the family.
Enclose is a picture taken at Hair Today Salon at 12th & Hamilton in Allentown, PA when I was 14yrs old.

My heart is broken upon hearing of Ed's passing. He was a great and sweet man who loved people and shared his talent willingly. We had been friends since we were in kindergarten and though I moved away he was one of the few people I kept in contact with through the years. He was a joy to be around and I still remember skiing with him at Hawk Mountain, where a local called us ski bums, though he was a successful business owner. We laughed about that often. I loved him for attending Mom's repast a few weeks ago. I was do glad to see him and respect him deeply for the effort he made to attend that function. My love, my heart, my prayers are extended to his family and may the Lord Comfort you at this sad time.

Ed was such a smart, talented, and joyous man. He had been my husband's hairstylist for years, warmly welcoming even my husband's big dog in the salon, when I moved from France to Allentown in 1996. He became, and remained mine also, eversince.
Back then, I did not speak English fluently, and would go to my hair appointment with a French-English dictionary. Thanks to Ed's patience and humor, we managed with laughter and he always succeeded in giving me lovely haircuts .
He adored his beautiful family, loved his work, and life.
There are no words to express our immense sadness.
