Esther Y. Kern
Esther Y. Kern, 89, of Bethlehem, died on Sunday, July 31, 2005 in Kirkland Village, Bethlehem. Esther was the daughter of the late Blair H. and Jennie Yingling. She was the widow of Fred W. Kern, who died July 14, 1993. Esther was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem. She was a graduate of Susquehanna University in 1938. Esther volunteered for St. Lukes Hospital Ladies Aid Society, from 1961-98, where she served as president, from 1975-77. Esther dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker. Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by sons, Fred W. Kern Jr. of Atlanta, Ga. and Michael Kern, husband of Betsy, of West Hartford, Conn.; daughter, Elizabeth Beth Kern, wife of Howard Berninger, of Center Valley; grandson, Jason Kern, husband of Lissa, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; granddaughter, Kristen Mok, wife of Richard, of Westminster, Colo.; grandson, Michael Fairback of Center Valley; great-granddaughter. Services: private, at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem. Arrangements, Connell Funeral Home Inc., Bethlehem. Contributions: St. Lukes Hospital Auxiliary, 800 Ostrum St., Fountain Hill 18015.
