Evelyn Lichtenwalner

1923 - 2017

Evelyn M. Lichtenwalner, 93, of Lansdale, died Saturday, January 7, 2017. She was the wife of the late Clair F. Lichtenwalner, who died September 21, 2009 Born January 21, 1923 in Myersville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Helen (Stahley) Bertsch. Mrs. Lichtenwalner graduated from high school in 1940. She began her first job in 1941 with the American Armament Plant (later Vultee Aircraft Plant) which was where she met her future husband, Clair. The couple married August 16, 1947 and shared 62 years of marriage. In 1969, Evelyn began her employment with North Penn School District as the driver of Bus #73, retiring in 1986. An excellent mother and doting grandmother, she will be remembered for her unfailing love of family. She had a joy for life, wonderful laughter, and was a good-natured prankster. Survivors: Survivors include her children, Jane White (Ronald) of Lansdale, and Glenn Lichtenwalner (Joann) of Silverdale; five grandchildren, Michael White (Elizabeth Youse), Kathleen Veisz (Justin), Amanda Scaife (Nicholas), Monica Riling (Shane), and Laurie Lichtenwalner; and two great-granddaughters, Harper Mae and Sienna Jane Veisz. Also surviving are a brother, Edgar Bertsch, Jr. of Allentown; and a sister, Betty Schantz of Orefield, PA. She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Irene Druckenmiller, Raymond Bertsch, Alton Bertsch, Ernest Bertsch, Kathryn Moyer, Paul Bertsch, Pauline Bertsch, and Dorothy Yeakel. Services: Relatives and friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.
