Please accept our deepest sympathies. Frank was truly one of the great local businessmen of the area. He always had a friendly hello to offer even if he did not know you personally. May his legacy continue to live on.

We send our condolences to the Horwith family on the loss of their husband, father, grandfather, brother, Frank. I have known Frank for a number of years in business and as a friend. A kinder gentleman could not be found. He was always ready to take time from his busy schedule to chat. The absence of his smile, geniality, generosity and business acumen will be deeply felt.

I will never forget being at 1st National Bank of Bath and being introduced to Mr. Horwith. Thus began a frendship with a mentor that I will never forget the rest of my life. When anyone had a perplexing business decision, your husband, father, grandfather would make time to provide advice. The help of such an extremely sucessful and giving man will always be cherished. Thank you for being the giving, and caring family to so many in our community.

Dear Geraldine, Mike, Sheila, Regina, Linda & Families

We are never at a loss for words, but this is a tough challenge because of what Frank Horwith, a beloved husband, devoted father & grandfather, and cherished friend meant to both of us personally and professionally.

Frank was an icon among men. He had a keen business sense and was tough around the negotiating table, yet, he possessed a deep sense of compassion and charisma that could brighten a room.

When Joan and I were trying to start a business in the late 1980s, we were thinking, "where do we start. We don't know anyone?" We had just moved the family from New Jersey and felt awkward. I said to Joan, "There's a trucking firm along Route 329. It appears to be rather large. Perhaps they can use a brochure, if they don't already have one."

Joan called and asked for Mr. Horwith, never expecting he would come to the phone. When we offered our services to do a brochure for him, we figured he wouldn't have the time to deal with us. Again, we were amazed by his interest, business sense and attention to detail. Lo and behold, we had an opportunity to complete the brochure and Horwith Trucking became our very first client.

Perhaps the most poignant memory we have of Frank was in 1991. I approached him in Jan. of that year and said that I could use some direction for our business. He said, "Don't worry, I may have something for you later this year. I'll keep you informed." I was thrilled that he would even take a few minutes to talk to me. Well, winter evolved into spring and, by May, I figured he forgot about us. One day, close to Memorial Day weekend, Joan gets an important phone call. She tells me Mr. Horwith wants me to come down for a meeting. I was stunned.

He introduced us to U.S. Generating Company, Bethesda, Maryland. He said to their executives that we will be able to help them with a marketing plan to develop, construct and operate a cogeneration plant to produce clean energy in the form of electricity.Frank was willing to stand up for Joan and I and that simple introduction turned into our first contract.

To quote a good friend, Historian/Councilman Ed Pany, Frank was a man of "fibre and fabric." For all his successes and good fortune, he was "the salt of the earth."

For all his personal heartaches and losses, he still smiled and took life "one day at a time."

When Joan needed a sponsor for the fireworks display at Community Days '92, she called Frank and asked if his company could help out. He was only too happy to help.

Frank's philanthropic spirit is legendary and, because of it, Northampton enjoys many services that are too numerous to mention.

How does one summarize a man's life? Frank was a humble, hard-working individual who wouldn't want to be judged by his successes and worth, rather by the value his humility and hardwork brought to the communities and family he so loved.

Thank you, Horwith family, for sharing Frank with the world. We will forever miss him.

Dear Horwith Family,

Our deepest sympathy to all of you for the loss of a wonderful man. He was always kind to me and my family and I have many memories since knowing Frank for the past 12 years. My fondest memory is that whenever I would come into your place of business and he would hear my loud voice talking to every one Frank would always take the time to come out of his office to say hello and talk to me for a few minutes. I will always treasure that.

Sincerely, Sheila Romano Silfies and family.

To the Horwith Family:

Please accept our sincere sympathy. Frank was a wonderful person and a loss to the community as well as the people who loved and respected him. He had a very special place in our hearts. He gave us the opportunity to start our business and he was always there for us, encouraging us. He would come over and ask for a job (in a kidding way) and would make us smile. We were always so happy to see him. We know that this is a family time. However, we want the family to know that we will always be here for you as Frank was always there for us. If there is anything we can do for you, please do not hesitate to call on us.

We will keep you and your family in our prayers.
