Frederick Beisel Obituary

Frederick A. Beisel, Jr., died peacefully on Sunday November 22, 2015, at Twining Village, Holland. He was 87. Fred was the beloved husband of Helene Lucille (Weiser) Beisel. Fred and Helene were married for 65 years. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Frederick A. Beisel, Sr., and Arlene Isabelle (DeLong) Beisel. Fred resided in Yardley for 18 years before moving to Gaithersburg, Maryland in 1982. He returned to Bucks County and moved to Twining Village in 2012. A 1945 graduate of Allentown High School, Fred began studies at Lehigh University in chemical engineering. He interrupted his college career to enlist in the Navy in 1946, trained as an electronics technician and served on the USS Johnston in the North Atlantic until 1948. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Lehigh to complete his studies, changing his major to Electrical Engineering, and graduating in 1951. Fred worked for over 40 years as an aerospace system/project engineer in both technical and management roles. His career spanned many companies, including ITT Laboratories, RCA Astro Division, Contel Federal Systems and Fairchild Space Company. Most of his projects involved developing and deploying satellites for civilian and defense applications. Fred was an avid bridge player who loved to spend summers with his family in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, and winters in Vero Beach, Florida. He was also a long-time and faithful fan of Lehigh University football, never missing a home game until illness prevented him from attending. Above all else, Fred will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by his children: Christopher Beisel and his wife, Lorie Lana, of Dayton, Maryland; Wendy Kane and her husband, Steve, of Newtown; and Bruce Beisel and his wife, Susan, of Poway, California. He also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren: Emily Norris (Justin), Hannah and Madeline Kane, and Samantha, Katie, Shelby and Meredith Beisel. Fred's family wishes to thank the aides from BrightStar Home Care and Dove Health Care, the staff from Compassionate Care Hospice, and the nursing staff of Twining Village, for the compassionate care shown to Fred and his family during his illness. Services: Relatives and friends are invited to Fred's Life Celebration on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 12 to 1 PM and to his memorial service at 1 PM at the Swartz/Givnish Funeral Home, 323 Washington Ave, Newtown, PA. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow at 2 PM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

I will always cherish my Shore memories - Dad Beisel was always welcoming to me - many times with a much needed post beach cocktail. Bruce and all the the family I wish I could be there, but know that I am thinking about you. Nancy Powers
