Gary Freeman Obituary

Pastor Gary L. Freeman, 63 years, of Bethlehem died surrounded by family Saturday March 25th, 2017 at the Lehigh Valley Hospice in Allentown after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Donna (Stoudt) Freeman of Bethlehem and would have celebrated 39 years of marriage together this June. Born in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of Paul L. and Elizabeth (Kaetzel) Freeman both of Illinois. Gary was an Emmaus High School graduate and in 1975 he graduated from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, in Owatonna, MN. For three summers he was in the "Preacher Boy Program" at the Calvary Baptist Church, Lansdale, PA under the direction of Dr. E.R. Jordan. In 1976, the Pastor and his father felt led to start an independent Baptist church in the Allentown/Bethlehem area. This church was named Bethlehem Bible Church, then Fundamental Bible Church and finally the Race Street Baptist Church located in Catasauqua and where Gary has remained the pastor there from the start. Survivors: Surviving along with his wife Donna and his parents are his daughter Rachel L. Reno and husband Mark; son Jason G. Freeman and wife Kelly; brother Paul C. Freeman and wife Deborah; sisters Diane J. Freeman and Beth J. Freeman; grandchildren Caleb and Lydia Freeman, and Stephen, Katie, Trisha and Reuben Reno. Services: Funeral services will be held at 12pm Saturday April 1st, 2017 at the Race Street Baptist Church, 610 Race St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. I'm stunned since I hadn't known of Gary's passing. Ironically, I, too, had attended both Pleasant Valley and Emmaus High Schools and knew Gary from both.

Dear Freeman family, My sincerest condolences on the passing of Gary. The last time I saw you was when we all attended the Bible Fellowship Church in East Stroudsburg in the 1960's when Gary was a student at Pleasant Valley High and Paul was a college student at Indiana State. I always wished and dreamed I was one of your children. Also, I thought of you many times over the years. Gary was truly blessed by having such a godly family and I always enjoyed being with you all in SS and church and going to your home with our SS class. Your whole family was an inspiration and an excellent example of what a true Christian home should be like. Gary was truly blessed and I am sure he passed that on to his own family. Be comforted in the knowledge you gave all your children a wonderful, godly, loving home which put Christ first and Gary did the same I am sure Also, please be comforted with the knowledge that he is now in his heavenly home , happy in God's presence forever and you all will be reunited one day in God's own time.

To the Family of Gary: He was loved by many at Air Products. That is where we met. I missed him when he left and prayed for him as he would keep me updated on his health. He fought a good fight, but in the end fell into the arms of his savior, Jesus. Know he is at peace and will greet you when you meet again. May God Bless you all.

As the beloved evangelist, John R. Rice said when a young man tried to hold him up at gunpoint, "Son, you can't threaten me with Heaven." The blessed hope of all true Christians has now become an eternal reality for Gary. A great loss to his family, but unimaginable blessings for him.
See you at the House, brother!

Dear Donna and Family,
We are sorry to hear of Pastor Gary's passing, but at the same time we are rejoicing that he is with the Lord Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour whom he served in the ministry for over 40 years.
I came to know the Lord through his preaching. He was a real blessing to talk to.
I'll never forget our last phone call. Pastor Gary told me if the Lord wills that he takes him home it is alright with him, whatever the Lord's will is he was fine with that. He ended, saying that he will be waiting at the gates of heaven for me and all of his loved ones. He was such a blessing to me and my family.

Dear Donna and family I did not know you and your family personally, but through my dear friend Cathy whom I've known and worked with at PPL for almost 40 years. Through her happy and memorable stories and updates on Gary and all of the family members, I truly did feel like I knew all of you. I've been praying for Pastor for a very long time now. It was very sad to hear of his passing, but know he is not suffering any longer and is in a better place with the Lord. May he rest in peace. God bless you and your families.

Sincerely,
Marianne Keck and Tony

Pastor Gary was there for many of the worst times in my family's life (funerals) and was also there for some if the best. Thank you to Pastor Gary and his family for making my brother Douglas a part of yours. My smpathies to all of you. As he said my Mothers funeral "at least there is no more suffering".

Pastor Freeman is finally in the arms of Jesus. No more pain. No more chemo. We celebrate his graduation to Paradise! We will miss seeing him at the Oasis after church on Sundays. I pray that the Lord will comfort and sustain his loved ones as only He can.

Rest in Peace, Gary.
To his Family: Gary worked for me at Air Products for a couple years in the early '90's. He was a wonderful worker and loved by all. He's in good company now and dancing with the angels.
