One never knows when our friends will no longer be with us. I'm glad we had time to talk before you left this earth. I'll miss calling you Garu and our "business strategy" sessions. I kept looking out of my office waiting for you to stroll by with that water bottle in your hand. You will be missed. You touched so many people with kindness and laughter. Thanks for being a friend. There is a void in the community now that you are gone. But you live on in our hearts and in our memories. Jeanne, Chrissy and Sarah, my heart goes out to you all.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Gary. It is amazing how fast life goes by. It seems like yesterday that we were playing together as childhood friends on second street. Life often moves us in such very different directions causing us to lose touch with those we knew in childhood. It is so nice to hear what a wonderful person he became and how he touched the lives of so many people. I can only imagine the grief of his family. My wife and I will be praying for you and will make a point to spend time remembering his life.

To the Shipe family,

It's hard to believe that Gary is gone. He was a great man that loved his whole family. He was an amazing soccer coach and helped us girls become the soccer players we are today. Gary always made me laugh and treated me like one of his own. Going on vacation to Myrtle beach with Gary, Sarah, and Jean was one of the best vacations I had. Gary will always be missed! He is forever in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with your family! I'll miss you coach Shipe! Rest in peace. I know your watching over all your family and friends.

My husband and I did not know Gary personally, but our son, Chris, has played on a softball team with Gary for a few years. We were at the game when Gary became ill. We just want you to know that as we watched his teammates take care of Gary, it was so obvious how much they cared about him. When Chris talked about Gary, he said that "Gary was the type of guy who made things much better by just being around." We are so sorry for your loss and pray that your memories of Gary will comfort you and make things just a little bit easier.

Gary, yours was a life well lived. You were quick with an easy smile and an encouraging word, ready to rise to any challenge and inclusive of all comers. You were a father to your two daughters as proud as any could be and a loving husband to Gene. As we visited your home last Sunday we saw your touch and heard through the voices of others the impact you left. We love you Gary and we will miss you so deeply. May God bless your soul and comfort your family.

Farewell my Friend

Gary, there are no words to express the loss, no sentiments to even begin to say how there is now a hole in our hearts in the space you used to fill. We miss you so much. They say Heaven is different for everyone. If that's true, then I know you're up there already apart of several celestial sports leagues, maybe even fielding with some famous sports heroes, and having a blast. Watch out for that Babe Ruth guy. He hits them far.

I lived across the street from the Shipe family on S. 2nd St. and remember Gary from my childhood. I have fond memories of playing with all of the Shipe kids and especially remember haggling with Gary in trying to get a pick-up football game together with all of the neighborhood kids. I extend my deepest sympathy to the entire Shipe family. It seems that Gary grew up to be just wonderful.

Gary was a great man on so many levels. I first met him in my early years at Air Products were we worked together in the gases division. later in our years Gary became my daughter soccer coach. And what a great coach he was. Anything Gary did he had gusto for He always approached things with a can do attitude. I'm very saddened by his passing.
