Rev. George Emanuel Hein, Jr., 88, of Lebanon, formerly of Whitehall, died Friday, April 16, 2021 at Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. He was the husband of Loretta E. (Huber) Hein to whom he was married 65 years last August 20. Born in Whitehall, March 19, 1933, George was the son of the late George E. Hein, Sr. and Tillie I. (Stauffer) Hein. George graduated from Whitehall High School in 1951, , Muhlenberg College in 1955 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia in 1958 with a Bachelor of Divinity degree. After becoming an Ordained Minister, Rev. Hein served the New Ringgold Lutheran Parish from 1958 – 1962 (Advent, Tuscaroa; Christ, McKeansburg; Friedens, New Ringgold; Zion, Lewistown Valley) Mahoning Lutheran Parish from 1962 – 1965 (Ben Salem, Andreas; St. John's, Mahoning; St. Peter's, Mantzville; Zion's, Snyders), Belfast-Wind Gap Lutheran Parish from 1965 – 1971 (Grace, Belfast & Trinity, Wind Gap), Allegheny Lutheran Church, in Alleghenyville from 1971 – 1980, Bethel-Rehrersburg Lutheran Parish from 1980 – 1991 (Altalaha, Rehrersburg & Salem, Bethel), Christ Lutheran Church, Penn Forest Twp. from 1991 – 1995, and Visitation Pastor at Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church, Orefield from 1996 – 2003. Throughout Rev. Hein's professional tenure, he held many church related positions and participated in many church and community related activities.

Survivors: In addition to his wife, Loretta; sons, Wilson G. Hein (Sarah) of Lebanon, Daniel T. Hein (Susan) of Mohnton; predeceased by a sister, Esther Laub, brothers, Emanuel and Ralph, half sisters, Sallie Thomas, Bonnie Schaffer, and Virginia Beidler.

Service: Funeral services will be held 11:00 am. Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road, Whitehall the Rev. Thomas D Busteed officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the church. Interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery, Allentown. I remember him in my church at Jordan Lutheran in orefield Pennsylvania. We were great buddies. He was in my choir we were 2nd tenors. We had fun.ill miss seeing him sing.

Our deepest sympathy to the Hein Family. We are life-long members of St. Peter's Church, Mantzville, Pa and Pastor Hein performed our marriage ceremony in December, 1963. We have memories of our meeting with him at the parsonage for pre-marital counseling. Two very active little boys entertained us. They were full of energy and fun! We are grateful for the leadership he provided at St. Peter's. Hebrews 13 : 7-8

Rev. Hein performed our marriage ceremony in 1978. Rev Hein gave me private 1:1 confirmation classes. As a child we went to many Churches of various denominations but never were too involved. Prayers to Loretta (our former Avon lady) and his sons.
