Gerald Kresge Obituary

Gerald S. Kresge, 68, of Schnecksville, died Sunday, August 21, 2016 in his home. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Redline) Kresge to whom he was married 48 years on June 30. Born in Palmerton, May 16, 1948, Gerald was the son of the late Donald J. and Mary (Machalec) Kresge. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era with a rank of Sergeant. He was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor at ELS Properties for 12 years before retiring. Prior to that, he worked in the Maintenance Department of the former Keystone Lamp Factory in Slatington for 25 years. Gerald was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Stacy A. Dreisbach and her husband, Jeffery of Orefield; son, Gerald S. Kresge II and his companion, Paula Douris of Schnecksville; sisters, Janet Kresge of Wilkes Barre, Ann Woginrich and her husband Terry, and Sharon Minnich and her husband, Brian both of Palmerton; grandchildren, Nathan & Cooper Kresge, Hannah Douris. Services: A memorial service will be held 1:30 pm. Friday, September 2, 2016 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. Family and friends may pay their respects from 12:30 - 1:30 pm. Friday in the funeral home. The family requests casual attire, please wear your favorite sports jersey. Private Interment. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Line Drive Sports Academy Scholarship Fund c/o the funeral home, P.O. Box # 196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196.

So sorry for your loss Fox. Your hubby and I shared alot of good sports memories over the years. Playing softball on the same team, and playing alot of pickup basketball games.

Heaven must have needed a softball pitcher to round out it's team. Although I don't believe that I ever played on the same team as Jerry, we, among several teams, played opposite each other, especially in the fall league at Laury's Station. I enjoyed the times we just talked about softball.

Mary Ann, My deepest sympathy to you and your family. You and I had only worked together for a short time when you shared with me your husband was looking for a job after a long career in the maintenance field. I told you to send him up to Bill Johnson, our park manager, and he hired Gerry on the spot. I have thought about the both of you over the past years since Gerry retired. My deepest condolences.
