Gladys M. Leiby
Gladys M. Leiby, 86, formerly of Kempton, PA passed away on February 3, 2011 in the Lutheran Home at Topton. She was preceeded in death by her husband Earl R. Leiby in August of 2009, and at that time they were married for over 59 years. She was born in Lowhill Township, a daughter of the late Dewey and Florence (Friebolin) Metzger. She was a 1942 graduate of Slatington High School and a 1943 graduate of the Allentown Business College. She retired after 30 years, employed as an office manager for the Chevrolet Dealership in Slatington, and later as a part time bookkeeper for Kermit K. Kistler, Inc. of Lynnport, PA. She was a Leader of the Lynnport 4-H Club for 30 years. Gladys was a member of Jacobs Church, New Tripoli, where she served as a past council member and sunday school teacher and superintendent. She was a past president and secretary of the Ontelaunee Lioness Club, New Tripoli; and a 50 year member of Slatington Chapter #458, Order of Eastern Star. Survivors: Includes a daughter, Linda S. wife of Thomas R. Anderson of Schnecksville, PA; a son, Robert E. Leiby and his wife Jan Marie Allen of Kutztown; a twin sister, Grace, wife of Harold Krumanocker of Topton;three grandchildren, David Leiby, Eric and Beth Anderson and three step-grandchildren, Scott, Christopher and Stephanie Allen. Services: Funeral Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Jacobs Church- 8373 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, PA with Rev. Scott L. Shay and Pastor Ruth Schaefer officiating. A Calling hour will preceed the service beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Contributions: Those planning expressions of sympathy may contribute, in her memory, to Lehigh County 4-H, send to the Nester Funeral Home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli, PA 18066.
