Grant L. Hess
Grant L. Hess, 87, of Allentown- Hanover Twsp. Lehigh Co. died Friday, December 3, 2010, at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem, PA. He was the husband of the late Grace L. (Adams), who died in May 1998. Born in Northampton, PA, he was the son of the late Floyd and Victoria (Anthony) Hess. Grant was a Construction Laborer for the L.I.U.N.A. Local # 1174, Allentown, PA for over 30 years before retiring in 1984. During his tenure he served as the Union Laborer Representative and Business Agent for the Union for many years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church - Kreidersville, PA. He was a member of the Easton V.F.W. and the Northampton Raccoon Club; He was an avid outdoorsman and Hunter; He was also a generous man sponsoring many of the homeless and poor children overseas. Grant served his country as a PFC in the Army during World War II. Survivors: He is survived by his three daughters, Karen R. wf. of Stephen Hoffman of Allentown, PA, Bonnie D. wf. of Dennis Frantz of Lehighton, PA, Gale I. Hess of Catasauqua, PA; son, Grant L.K. Hess and companion Tammy Walker of Orefield, PA; a son-in-law, Sterling L. Bryant of Allentown, PA; one brother, Kenneth Hess of Allentown, PA; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Ruth W. Hess-Bryant in April 2006. Services: are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday December 13, 2010 at the Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA, 18067; where the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the services. Rev. Thomas A. Neel will officiate.Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery in Kreidersville, PA. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society C/O the funeral home. On-line condolences may be offered to the family at www.schislerfuneralhomes.com

Dad, as your eldest daughter I will miss you: You were quite a handyman, even helping at our house, such as ceiling work with our brother Grant, replacing a walkway section out back @ at age 80. Of course bringing letters over to type even this October. Memories like taking us to see deer and with Mom out to eat. And that all is just my married years. Your entertaining sense of humor. The house you and your brothers built in the 1950s and still lived in until your last hour. We plan to see our loved ones in Heaven someday.
