HAROLD BOYER Obituary

Harold "Hal" Boyer moved on to his next fishing spot on January 31, 2021. He was born in Allentown Pennsylvania in 1930 to Harold L. and Anna Boyer of Emmaus. "Sonny" played football and was captain of the gymnastics team at Emmaus High School graduating with the class of 1948. He attended NY Art Academy in the Flat Iron Building in NYC before joining the Navy in 1952. He served 4 years as a Gunners Mate on the USS Daly DD 519 in the Pacific during the Korean War. Soon after marrying Arlene Clark of Allentown they started a family and moved to Saugerties, NY where Hal worked as a Graphic Designer at IBM in Kingston until his retirement in 1987. Hal was an accomplished fine woodworker and artist and appeared in Fine Woodworking Magazine. He was a member of the Hudson Valley Flying Club and took friends and family up for rides when ever he could. He loved to ski, camp, hunt & fish, and travel with his kids. In 1990 he moved back to Pennsylvania and enjoyed over 30 years of spending summers fishing in Lake Champlain and continuing to make friends and fishing buddies where ever he went. Hal was a generous person and was always making something for someone or doing a cartoon of them to brighten their day. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his partner Suzanne Cottier, Beth & Casey Cottier, sister Jackie Reese of Emmaus, son Mark & partner Julie, daughter Kate (Kathy) & fiance Steve Wood, son Kurt and his wife Cynnie, granddaughters Arlene (and husband Dave) Deahl, Erica (and husband James ) Stock, Clare Boyer, and great granddaughters Murphy & Colette Deahl, nephew Scott Reese, great nephews Michael & Daniel Reese, and great niece Keri Bennett, and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

There will be a memorial service honoring Hal's life in Allentown, PA in the spring. The family encourages friends and families to join in posting pics and stories on Hal's facebook page www.facebook.com/hal.boyer.547. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice at www.hvhospice.org

He served well as our high school class president for about 20 years. I worked with him as Vice President, and helped plan our class gatherings. He was very good at the computer and prepared the invitations to our class reunions. We will miss him for his skills and his friendship.
