Harry J. Berger Jr.

Harry J. Berger, Jr. 73, of South Whitehall Twp., passed away October 14, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital. With the heaviest of hearts, his soulmate and wife, Maureen A. (Sapolis) Berger, mourns this tremendous loss. He was the love of her life. The couple would have celebrated 36 years of marriage on Oct. 21st. Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Harry J. Sr. and Bernadette R. (Beckenthal) Berger. Harry was a construction coordinator for The Allentown Housing Authority for 20 years, retiring in 2000. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Montclair State University and his Master's Degree from Lehigh University. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield. Harry was an avid fan of the New York Football Giants and the Yankees. He had a love for automobiles and was a collector of diecast cars. Survivors: Loving Wife, Maureen; Sister-in-Laws, Doris Pucilowski and her husband Jimmy, Doreen Sapolis and Marian Serafin and her husband Richard; Brother-in-Law, Louis Sapolis and his wife Rebecca; Mother-in-Law, Mary Ann Sapolis; Nieces and Nephews, Jonathan, Michael, Matthew, Jordyn, Eric, Alexis and Evan, his Godson. He was predeceased by his sister, Bernadette Berger; and Father-in-Law, Louis Sapolis. Services: 10:45AM Thursday, Oct. 18th, at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday 11:30AM at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1858 Applewood Drive, Orefield, PA 18069. A viewing will be held at the funeral home Thursday 9-10:45AM. The burial will take place 11:30AM Friday, Oct 19th at Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Duryea, PA.
