Dad..thanks for making my faith stronger. I got to know you more in the last 4 years than in my whole life. You taught me more in that short amount of time. I'm so very happy that you and Mom are finally together again, no sickness, no pain. Enjoy each other again, have fun, dance, laugh, love. I'm so glad that I had alot of memories of the West Coast that we could share. The boat races, picnics on Spirit Lake, playing in the snow at Mt. St. Helens, hanging out with Barb and Linda. Even here on the East Coast. Hunting with Uncle Bob, fishing in the creek. Like the time you and Don were fishing and you were running down the creek to net a fish and fell into a hole!!! All the memories of you and Mom that Brian and Diana have, like, Diana's Miss Molly and doing the dishes at your house because the sink was just their size. I will always miss you both, but, you will always be in my heart and my mind. It is an honor being your daughter. God Bless You. Theresa and Don.

To Theresa,Sonny,John,Debbie and Cecelia. I can remember the day your Dad was born in Flint, Michigan. The Doctor came to our house with a new black medical bag. Which, he told us kids the new baby was in it. Your Aunt Bev and I had to go to Grandma and Grandpa`s house while our new brother, Herman, was being delivered.

Grandpa, we will miss you and your jokes, walking around your home with you hitting on nurses, asking me if i was pregnant every time and i'd reply "Im just fluffy", having michael play the piano for you and insisting he needed one at home because he was so good, although he just pounded on keys. You could make the hardest person smile with your jokes and we know this is what you wanted, to be with your wife for christmas and make her smile again. We will miss you and we love you very much. "I'll see you down the road Jack....."

I always wanted to be closer than we were. Want to be there for you but I just received the message this morning of the 17th. Uncle Herm was a hero to me. I think he knew that. I was so glad that I got visit with him on the phone last Xmas and was looking forward to speaking with him next week. He is in a better place with Aunt Rose and the Lord. We are sorry for your loss of your Father/GrandFather/Best Friend. As veterans, we want to share this poem, to help ease your grief.
" “Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go."

The loss of a Family member is never easy, however, we are comforted by knowing that he went to spend the holidays and eternity with the Love of his life, and is now another Angel looking down and taking care of his Loved ones. Although I never personally met Mr. Blank, he must have been an excellent human being, to have raised a wonderful and caring daughter named Debra.

My condolences go out to the family members of Deb, Rich and Meghann.

Love you,

MaryAnn Santiago (Fireman's Fund)
