Hilda Gates Obituary

Gates, Hilda IHilda Izola Dodson Gates was born Aug.17,1918 in East Freedom, Pa. She had 7 brothers and 2 sisters. They lived in a 2 bedroom house with no indoor plumbing or running water.Hilda quit school at 14 to work as a live in housekeeper to help support the family. She married Harold V. Gates of Roaring Spring, Pa. on Dec. 25,1937. They had 1 son, Samuel K. Gates They lived in Hellertown, Pa. from 1940 to 1956 and operated a plumbing business, H.V.Gates Plumbing and Heating. 1956 Harold and Hilda moved to Ft. Pierce, Fl. where they managed apartment buildings until his death in 2003. Hilda died May 14,2014 at the age of 95. Survivors: A son, 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Services: None. Contributions: None
