Howard E. Kostenbader
Howard E. Kostenbader, 68, of Bushkill Township, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at St. Lukes University Hospital, Fountain Hill, surrounded by loving family and friends. Born on the family farm known as Hillcrest Farms in Bushkill Township on August 04, 1945, he was a son of the late Robert W. and Irene (King) Kostenbader. Since 2002, Howard served on the Board of Supervisors of Bushkill Township. He was active in Boy Scouts and in 1974, served as the Committee Chairman of Troop 74, Bushkill Township. Howard was a member of several local area social clubs, attended Schoeneck Moravian Church, and was an avid Green Bay Packers and New York Yankkees fan. His genuine acts of kindness, and his profound willingness to help others in their time of need, will be deeply missed by all who truly knew and loved him. Survivors: he is survived by his loving family; sister, Carolyn I. Hertzog and her husband, Glenn; and brother, John W. Services: will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Schoeneck Moravian Church, 316 N, Broad Street Extension, Nazareth, PA 18064. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. all in the church. Interment will follow in the Gods Acre of Schoeneck Moravian Cemetery, Nazareth. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., Moorestown - Bath. In so many ways, I think of Butch as being larger than life. He lived life simply and decently and compassionately, and, in doing so, left all of us with great memories, especially those that bring instant smiles and even chuckles. He was one of those rare individuals who undeniably had a heart of pure gold. Gwen and I extend our deep sympathy to his devoted family and friends.

Howard will be sincerely missed! We enjoyed his visits in our shop. He always took the time to talk with us and bring laughter into our shop. Howard was one of the first people we met when we moved into the Township. You could always count on him and he was always there to help in any way he could. He loved Bushkill Township and its residents, and always loyal to the end. We will miss you Howard! Love, The Loiacono Family

Howard's path crossed with mine around 1973. We were both on the same side...the good guys. He was always a pleasure to be around and I fondly recall how he talked Dutch to Harvey on the BMC frequency and was told he had to speak English. Howard will be missed by many and it was a true pleasure knowing him.. May he rest in Peace with my sympathy to the families.

Sincere sympathies to all of Howard's family. Howard will be missed forever. For a while now he was getting more and more tired; he never complained much but would say, "This to shall pass." My family loved him, my mother adored him. In her eyes Howard could do no wrong. I have known him for as long as I can remember and felt safe whenever he was around. Howard was one of the most compassionate people you could ever meet. It was an honor to call him friend.
