Hunter Hendricks Obituary

Hunter D. Hendricks, 59, of Emmaus, died Feb. 16, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of RuthAnn (Erb) Hendricks. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late David O. and Sally A. (Bruder) Hendricks. Beginning at the age of 9, Hunter was active in the family business, Hendricks and Sons Auto Center, Emmaus. He was a hard-working and caring man that provided selflessly for his family. Putting other's needs above his own defined him. A lover of the outdoors, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, member of the NRA, and enjoyed trap shooting with his father. Above all, he cherished his time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Some of the best times were spent at Ocean City, Maryland bayside fishing on his boat with the family. Recently, he enjoyed time spent at the cabin located in Towamensing Trails. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Emmaus. Hunter is survived by his wife of 40 years, RuthAnn; daughters, Tasha Hendricks-Tarbox of Emmaus and Zarah Ann Hendricks of Emmaus; son, Shane Hunter Hendricks of Macungie; brother, Daniel D. Hendricks of Emmaus; sisters, Robin L. wife of Kevin Balliet of Emmaus and Kelly K. wife of William Pearsall of Emmaus; grandchildren, Haven, Autumn, Colt, Nathan, Peyton, and Rowan. Services will be private. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ann's Catholic Church, 415 S. 6th St., Emmaus, PA 18049 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

We, as a family are so saddened and shocked to hear this sad news. We first met in 1984, as a new customer. Over the years, I( Rajesh) spent many enjoyable moments chatting about life in general with Hunter.

Hunter was our “ car doctor “ and we had complete trust in his judgement and quality of work .
We met and shared news about our children and grandchildren few times a year. Hunter was a gentleman, he will be missed by all who knew him.

Our condolences to the entire family.

Cousin Hunter,

I don't know anyone who better symbolized what family values represent than you. You put everyone before yourself regardless of what you were going through. When you were in the hospital I didn't know what I was going to say to my cousin who was nearing the end of his life, but you made the conversation so easy. You lifted my spirits that day, and I tried so hard to hold it together while we were on the phone. You and RuthAnn created a beautiful family, and I wish you would have had many more days to enjoy them. This is all part of God's plan, so we must accept it and keep you alive in our hearts and memories. We will meet again!

February 19, 2021

Hunter was always such a positive, kind, wonderful person, and always had a smile on his face. My mother, Nancy, was friends with Dave (they went horseback riding together!) since the 1960s, and knew Hunter from the time he was a baby. Our family has been taking their cars to Hendricks since 1971, and for the past 20 years or so, my dad always just referred to it as 'Hunters'. I'm so, so sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences to your entire family. Gone too soon.

I was saddened to learn of Hunter's passing. I have had the honor of knowing him since the early 1980's when I moved to Emmaus. His integrity, honesty and genuine caring were trademarks of his character. I always enjoyed taking my cars to him for service. Part of what I enjoyed was catching up with him and hearing about his life. He truly was one of the nicest most caring people I ever knew. I will miss him and feel honored to call him a friend.
