Irene Nemeth Obituary

Irene K. Nemeth
Irene K. Nemeth, born November 14, 1925 in Pringle, Pennsylvania died peacefully at St. Lukes Hospice on October 9, 2012 after a long illness. She was predeceased by her parents Bruce S. Kovaleski, Sr. and Katherine (Garbush) Kovaleski, her husband William Nemeth, and brother Bruce S. Kovaleski, Jr. At age 11, she moved to Bethlehem Township (Miller Heights) with her parents, where she became active at Sacred Heart Church in the Sodality and Choir, and played softball with the Goodwill Girls Club. A talented singer, she was a church soloist and sang at many weddings. She performed with Charlie Laslos Orchestra and later in life with the Beethoven Damenchor. She graduated in 1942 from Liberty High School and attended Bethlehem Business College night school. She met her husband William when she worked at Hoffmans Poultry. From 1943-1956 she worked in the Metallurgical Department at Bethlehem Steel Company. She married William Nemeth in 1949. When her daughters grew older she returned to work at the Quakertown Free Press, served as Office Manager at Benetz Inn, and then Assistant Secretary at Lemmon Pharmacal Company. Her last place of employment was Grim, Biehn and Thatcher, where she was a paralegal in the Estate Department. She loved to travel, visiting all the states as well as Hungary and Poland, where her cousins still reside. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to knit and crochet. She loved to bake and to garden, often selling her berries to local farmers markets, and continued to grow her own vegetables until she died. Survivors: Lynne M. Nemeth and husband Lanny Morrison, Arizona, and Joan N. Mack and husband John Mack of Upper Salford Township; Aunt Stella Wrazien; niece, Patricia Davis; nephews, Bruce M. Kovaleski and Mark Kovaleski, many cousins. Services: A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. Visitation will be Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m. both in the funeral home. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Irenes name to: St. Lukes Hospice, Development Office, 801 Ostrum St., Bethlehem, PA 18015. I just found out today that Aunt Irene passed away. I am very saddened by this news. She was the last link to my grandparents and my memories of the farm. I hope that you are all healing.

i only new your mother for a short time while i had the pleasure of being her caregiver.i adored her and so sorry to hear of her passing.i am sorry that i wasn"t at her funeral,but i did not know until today.i am thinking of you and your family.i will miss her.

I am so sorry to here of Irene's passing. I truly enjoyed getting to know her and Joan and Lynne. Thinking of Irene will always bring me good memories. I will also think of her when I look at the cute outfit that she made for my son!
