Jim was born in Pittsfield, MA on December 4, 1963, to the late James Joseph and Joan Mary (Guardino) Airoldi. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Jim graduated from The Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1993 and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, PA in 1997. He completed a Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) and earned his Master's of Public Health at Thomas Jefferson University in 2007. Additionally, he earned his Master's of Business Administration from DeSales University in 2017. Jim was a physician at St. Luke's Hospital for over 23 years serving in a number of roles including OB/GYN, MFM and Chairman of the OB/GYN department. Jim loved sports; in addition to playing Division I soccer at Sienna College, he loved cheering on the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. He was always his children's biggest fan and made it to every sports game. He most enjoyed vacations to Disney World with his family and getting a front row view at every parade, trips to Bethany Beach, running 5ks, playing in the geezer hockey league, landscaping, playing tennis, reading, and walking his dog Moose.

To the Airoldi family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I worked with jim on cw3 and I´m the perinatal center, he was always so caring and kind for all he encountered. If you knew jim you knew two things he loved his family so very much and he loved Disney. One of the memories I will cherish is that big smile and jim singing Disney songs with a little dance , best part he knew every word. I would tease him that he had future there after retirement. He will remain forever in my heart. He was truly a wonderful person. Rip

I am so saddened to hear of Dr. Airoldi's passing. I first met him in January of 2000 when I started as a labor nurse at St Luke's. Jim was great to work with, so kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and funny. I had many good memories of waking him up in the middle of the night for deliveries, then teasing him for eating one of the extra patient trays in the kitchen. We missed him the time he was away doing his fellowship and was so pleased to have him back with us again as a peri-natologist and in leadership of our department. He never stopped being a bedside doctor, never stopped sharing his knowledge and never stopped smiling. It was a pleasure to work with him! He is missed!

The world lost an angel...Heaven gained one!
Jim was very special to our family for many years...we were privileged to have him in our lives personally and professionally. His love and deep devotion for his family and friends, his profession, colleagues and his patients was unsurpassed! Jim was called home so young and too soon...We are heartbroken for everyone whose lives he touched especially for you and your family Tara! We pray the wonderful memories you created as a family will eventually fill the emptiness in your hearts today. Jim's beautiful legacy lives on in all of you!
Our sincerest sympathies, love and prayers,

Dear Tara, and family,
I am in shock to see the passing of Jim. I loved working with him through his residency in the ED. I had the benefit of his wisdom as a Perinatal patient. I will forever be grateful for his kindness, wisdom and faith.
So, very sorry for your loss, and the loss to the whole St. Luke's community. He was very special. XX Donna

I had the honor to work with Dr Airoldi several years ago. His kindness, intelligence and sense of humor is something that will always stay with me. I´ll never forget sitting in his office talking about his next research project, surrounded by piles of paperwork while he ate his lunch. He always had time for my questions and always had a smile on his face. The last time I saw him was a couple years after I left MFM. He was smiling, gave me a hug and offered me the warm "Hey buddy! How are you?" ... Dr Airoldi, you have no idea the impact your genuine kindness had on my life. To the Airoldi family- My heartfelt condolences to all of you. We should all be so blessed to have known him.

My heart is so sad on the passing of our dear friend and colleague Dr. Jim Airoldi, and the sorrow and pain that the family is enduring. He was a true friend and never hesitated to help in any way he could. There are few people that we come across in our lives that we can label as Ionic, and he is definitely one. His selfLESSness, genuinity, trustworthiness, and love for his family and patients, are only a few of Jim's beautiful assets. My husband Don and I have been so blessed by his presence and Jim will forever remain in our heart of hearts. Blessings and heartfelt condolences to you Tara and your family. May Jesus's warm embraces surround the family and may the beautiful memories of Jim help to bring you comfort at this extremely challenging time. With prayers, heartfelt condolences and Love, Karen and Don Radice

It was a shock to read about the sudden death of Dr. James Airoldi. I knew him (and Tara) when he was a young physician (and his wife a nurse in the CSICU), and they made a beautiful couple together. Jim was always generous with his time, his humor and his friendshiop. The world is a much poorer place with him gone.

My heartfelt sympathy to his family and close friends.

Dr. Airoldi exhibited all the traits you desire in a doctor. Dr. Airoldi was funny, compassionate, highly talented, and humble. My sincere condolences to Jim’s family. I worked in labor and delivery with Jim through his residency, then when he was in private practice and lastly when he was an MFM specialist. My fondest memories were of his residency. Waking him up for a delivery, had to make sure he got out of bed before leaving the room or he’d fall back to sleep. In his defense those 36 hr days were brutal. Our standing joke was he would call me Dr and I’d call him nurse. He truly cared about his patients! And he truly loved his family. He has left us way to soon but I know he is in heaven having a wonderful time.
