Jim has been a good neighbor to those that live around Eastside and I am shocked to learn of his passing. I had just spoken to him the day or so before he left us and he shared his usual interesting story with his outlook on life that made us all smile in his presence. He was a man who cared about his family deeply, a great American who served for his country, and a wonderful example of selfless giving of himself.

May God bless his wife Peggy, his children and his grandchildren who will carry his memory and his love with them as they move forward in their lives.

Jim.......We didn't know each other for very long, but you were one of the few who seemed to understand what I was going through and was kind enough to ask how things were.I will miss our little meetings in the back yard.

To Tracy and Valerie,
Even though I haven't gotten to see you or your dad for years, I have often wondered how you all were doing. I wanted to express my condolences and my thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of loss.

My Dearest brother Jimmy,
Well, I just arrived home a few hours ago from attending your funeral. My thoughts were of you all day. Your humor, your knowledge of history and events and the closeness we had. I was so happy I had the chance to spend 3 visits with you when I was in Allentown over Memorial Day weekend,. I know when I get each issue of that Pennsylvania Magazine you purchased for me, a tear will come to my eyes.

Love you forever, your sister Georgia Anne

TO THE EFFTING FAMILY,

Jimmy was the first to welcome me to the framily so many years ago. And for many years, he allowed me to cook for him at our annual hunting trips. But his telephone calls were classic. Nothing short of two hours reminicsing stories and facts of WW II. Jim was in a class of his own with humor and kindness. I'll miss you Big Fellow.

Dear Peggy, Brandi, Vanessa, Sabrina, Samantha, Tracy, Valerie, and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult and sad time. I will always remember that Uncle Jimmy always had a funny story and at least several jokes to tell whenever we would see him and he was also one heck of a harmonica player! He was interesting to talk to and a fun-loving guy and I know he will be missed very much. May you find comfort in knowing that he was loved by so many.

Jim had a heart of gold; he'd give you the shirt off his back and then ask you to stay for dinner. Family always came first, and behind that gruff exterior was a heart of gold. You always knew where you stood with Jim - he had no room for pretense. We would often meet unexpectedly around town, and he always had a kind word or fun story. I"ll miss his smile and his opinions. Peggy and the girls, you are in my prayers.

Tracy & Family -

I am sorry for your loss. Thinking back, I am surprised at how many memories I have of your dad. Most of those memories involve a ton of laughter. Take comfort in knowing he's with our Lord.
