John was a good friend to my husband, Marty. Marty composed music to lyrics that John wrote. They were both creative geniuses, and really enjoyed one another's company which was great because Pat and I were then free to enjoy our time together, too. To this day I think of John whenever I read or hear a particularly unusual poem. No one could put together words the unique way he did. Marty was born on October 24, the same date that John went home to God. Marty passed away on March 15, 2015.
I like to think of them still composing great songs together.

Dear Heinz family-
I met Jack when I was first invited to lunch at Beth Steel Company by Marshall Post and others in media and public relations. He soon became a special friend, one who encouraged my writing and, invariably, the first person at the lunch table to make us all laugh and usually the one person who would 'speak truth to power' as we discussed more serious matters. May his good soul rest in peace and may God's own peace and comfort be yours.

To the entire Heinz family,
My heart goes out to you all during this time of sadness. Your father, (husband and grandfather) was a wonderful guy whose Christmas greetings were always a highlight of our holiday cards. I always loved hanging out on Congress Street, never knowing what wisdom and jokes would be dispensed by Mr. Heinz. Hopefully, he is in that better place, along with my Dad, his friend and school-mate; no doubt entertaining everyone with their wit and enthusiasm.
My prayers will be with you.
Godspeed.
With love,
Missy

We met Jack when he was living at Fox Hill Farm in Glen Mills,
Pa. Our friendship was spontaneous and long-lasting. He
always made us laugh. We will miss him very much, but we
think he has been promoted and will now be writing heavenly
compositions for celestial personnel. We send our love and
prayers to his whole family. Meg & Marty Wendel

Jack will be sorely missed by all of his friends here at Shannondell. He was one of the most positive, enthusiastic, likeable and articulate gentleman we have ever had the pleasure to know. Always quick of wit, knowledgeable on any subject and ready with a smile and an encouraging word or more. Particularly adept at charming a lady with a ballad, story or an Irish joke.
We miss your happy presence Jack and know you are already a joy to the LORD and his angels.
Our sympathy to Pat and your family on their loss.

I should add, John was a classmate at the Franklin Elementary School, and he played the part of Santa in a little play, in third grade, with Miss Hemstreet,as our teacher. When he reached in his sack to retrive and present a doll he pulled its arm off, sending all into laughter.

To the Heinz family, I have had the pleasure to work with the Heinz family through EnergyCap. Knowing Steve and his sons, I can only imagine what a great person John must have been. He did a first rate job in passing on some great qualities to his family. God Bless all in this time of sorrow and sadness.

To the Heinz family, On behalf of my late father, Edward, who worked for "Jack" at Bethlehem Steel for many years, I would like to express my deepest sympathy for your loss. I often would meet Jack on those occassions I would join my father for lunch and always remember his infectious smile. My prayers are with you at this time.

Jack was the best father-in-law any daughter-in-law could ask for. He was so loving and affirming. I adored spending time with him hearing all his stories from the past. I'll miss him terribly.

Grandpa, I miss you. I know you're with God now, a better place, but the thought of not seeing you again is so hard.
