Joseph Abrams Obituary

Joseph Abrams, 105
Joseph Abrams, 105, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, February 18, 2006. For 64 years, he was the devoted husband of the beloved Sara Abrams, as well as loving father to son, Leonard Abrams and treasured Gramps to granddaughters, Beth Abrams and Cathy Sacher and cherished Little Pop-Pop to his great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Ryan Sacher. Having immigrated to the United States in 1911 from eastern Europe, Joseph founded the Fleetwood Shirt Corporation that manufactured dress shirts for the finest American designers. After his son, Lenny, joined the buiness, Joseph was proud to see his company continue to grow and prosper under Lennys guidance. Joseph also had the joy and pleasure of watching his two grandchildren grow into lovely and successful young women and was especially fortunate to see his great-granddaughter fulfill her bat mitzvah. Joseph was a proud member of the Allentown Beth El Synagogue. At the Jewish Community Center, Joseph attended the health club on a daily basis to socialize with his many friends. He was always quick witted, loved a good joke and enjoyed engaging in political discussion. Survivors: Son, Lenny Abrams and his wife, Enid; grandchildren, Beth Abrams and Cathy Sacher and her husband, Paul; great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Ryan Sacher. Services: 1 p.m. today, February 19 in Beth El Synagogue, Springhouse Road. After services, interment will be held in Beth El Cemetery. Shiva will be held today, Monday and Tuesday in the home of Leonard and Enid Abrams. Arrangements by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Allentown. Contributions: May be made to the endowment fund at the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley, 702 N. 22nd St., Allentown, PA 18104.

Dear Lenny

You had a very special Father. The best ever. I had the great opportunity of caring for a waise and intelligent family man like Joe. I always said he was a little guy with a great big smile. Love to all

Dear Family,

I first met Joe around 1966 or 1967 when I was doing accounting work at Fleetwood Shirt Co. I still remember Joe's kindness to me, including the time he gave me a box of Oleg Cassini shirts to make me feel wanted. I continue to have good memories of Joe!
