Joseph Fischl Obituary

Joseph C. Fischl, 97, of Allentown, formerly of Coplay, died Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the Phoebe Home- Allentown. He was the husband of Gloria (Stewart) Fischl to whom he was married 71 years this past July 1. Born in Allentown, November 23, 1924, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph Fischl and Mary (Gaal) Fischl Bartholomew. He faithfully and honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II Era. Joseph was employed in the custodial department of Whitehall-Coplay School District for 5 years before retiring in 1991. Prior to that, he worked for the former Fairtex Knitting Mill in Allentown and L.F. Grammes in Allentown. He volunteered at the Coplay Recreation and Welfare and Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Center. Joseph was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Whitehall.

Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Gloria, daughter, Susan C. Gaspar and her husband, Bradley of Danielsville; son, The Rev. Richard J. Fischl and his wife, Deborah of York; sister, Hilda Kiss of Walnutport; grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Bethany, and Marcy; great grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Jocelin, Kyleigh.

Service: A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. December, 3, 2021 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main Street, Whitehall. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the church on Friday. Interment with military honors will conclude the service at Egypt Cemetery, Whitehall. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196.
