Dear Mary and Christopher, I don't know if you remember me but all of you were at my house many years ago when we had a Grassi family reunion. I remember Joey trying to explain to all of us how to make Grandma's cake. I'm so sorry we did not keep in closer touch over the years. Life does seem to get away from us. I was so sorry to hear that Joe passed away. He was such a nice person. I have thought of him often over the years. Cousin Stella

Dr. Grassi was one of the most kind people I have known in my life. He had a strong sense of purpose. His love for his family and the practice of medicine were paramount. He was a good friend and it was a pleasure to work with him and to know him. I will miss the good conversations we had about politics over lunch. There was always talk about Mary and Christopher.

Christopher, I hope you know how much he loved you, and how proud he was of you.

My thoughts are with you,

Mary & Christopher,

Joe was such a gift. He was a wonderful physician, so meticulous, caring, & empathic. He practiced the way he believed medicine should be practiced. He was not influenced by the dictates of "insurance companies","big business", and the bottom line. Patients always came first. He truly found his calling. My 4 active boys and I benefited from his great knowledge and compassion. He was brilliant, and just an all around great person. He will be sorely missed.
May God grant you the peace and strength to carry you through the difficult days ahead.

Joe was and is an inspiration to me and my family. We were neighbors first and got to be good friends over the years. Anyone who truly knew Joe, knows that he left a powerful impact on the world, and the loved ones he left behind. This is not just because of his unwavering, very high ideals - which he lived by and practiced medicine by - but because of his selfless dedication and love for the people in his life. Joe showed by example what it is to live life in an extraordinary way which is not always the easy way. He will be sadly missed, but will live in heaven and through the many people he touched most importantly, Christopher.
