Joshua James Melot M.D.

Joshua James Melot, MD, 35, of Bethlehem, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Born in Reading, he was the son of Scott M. Melot of Tremont and Velma S. (Johnson) Simpson of Reinholds. Josh was a graduate of Cocalico High School, Albright College, San Juan Batista School of Medicine (2017), St. Luke's Internal Medicine Residency Program (2017-2020) and the Addiction Medicine Fellowship at the Caron Foundation of Tower Health Reading Hospital (2021-2022).

Josh worked most recently at St. Luke's University Health Network in Bethlehem, specializing in Acute Pain Management and Addiction Medicine. He was extremely proud of his role in creating the St. Luke's Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program.

Although medicine was his life, Josh also enjoyed playing video games with his Call of Duty group. He was always delighted to showcase his terrible singing voice during Karaoke. Most of all, Josh loved to spend time with his family and close friends. He will be remembered for his ability to brighten any room and his fantastic sense of humor will be sorely missed.

Survivors: Mother, Velma and her husband Nelson; father, Scott and his wife Suzanne; sister, Christina M. Phelan and her husband Sean of Hummelstown; brother, Daniel S. Kemmerer and his husband Christopher of Harrisburg; step-brother, Derek Simpson and his wife Sylvia of Reinholds; nieces and nephews, Reilly, Ceann, Ainsley, Sean Jr. and Jolene; dear friend, Julia Miller; beloved dog, Maxey.

Services: A funeral service will be held at 5 PM on Sunday, January 21, 2024 in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, 46 E. Susquehanna Street, Allentown. A viewing for relatives and friends will be held from 2 PM until the time of the service.
