Juan B. "Juanito" Hernandez, Jr., 64, of Bethlehem, died on May 15, 2017. He was born September 20, 1952 in Corozal, Puerto Rico; son of the late Juan B. Hernandez and Ana (Lopez) Hernandez. Juan was a 1970 graduate of Freedom High School. He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp. after almost 30 years of service as a Millwright at both the Bethlehem and Sparrows Point plants. He was a very free-spirited person who loved nature. Juan would spend as much time as he was able outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, bird watching, visiting Hawk Mountain or attending Native American Powwows. He also liked riding motorcycles, horses, and running in his earlier years. Juan was very creative and had a big heart. Most important to Juan was his three girls. Survivors: He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Alicia Baird (Timothy); Noemi "Amy" Hernandez (Jason) both of Bethlehem; and Sara Hernandez of Jim Thorpe; siblings, Luis Hernandez (Iris) of Nazareth; Oscar Hernandez (Lynda) of South Carolina; Nanette Hernandez (Juan) of Jersey City; Emerita Gee (Edward) of Philadelphia; Anibal Hernandez of South Carolina; and Juanita Hernandez of Puerto Rico; as well as seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Juan was preceded in death by his brother, Francisco Hernandez. Services: A viewing will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 and again on Tuesday from 9-10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. He will be buried with his mother at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
