Lawrence Becker, 93, a resident of Luther Crest Retirement Community, South Whitehall Township, died on Monday, October 25, 2004 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was born in Hellertown, the son of the late Joseph and Anna Catherine (Kimenhour) Becker. Lawrence was the husband of 66 years to the late Margaret (Green) Becker, who died June 6, 2002. Lawrence graduated in 1926 from the Bethlehem Technical School, furniture and millwork. He was a finish carpenter in home construction, 1926-32. From 1933-1935, he was an owner of Auto Painting Shop. From 1935 until 1947, he worked as a machinist for the Bethlehem Steel Corp. in No.6 machine shop. From 1947-1975, Lawrence was a general contractor, developer and master builder. Later, he was the builder of fine furniture and heritage grandfather clocks for more than 20 years. Lawrence was a founding member of the Ss. Simon and Jude Boys Choir. From 1960 1975, Lawrence served his community as a member of the Lions Club. He was also a member of the Lower Saucon Township Planning Board, 1970-75. In 1944, Lawrence became a member of the Colesville Mission Church of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Parish, Limeport. Later, he was a founding member of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Colesville. Survivors: Sons, Richard L. Becker of Orefield,Lawrence J. Becker of Seattle, Wash.; daughters, Kathryne M. Roth of Allentown, Margaret A. Schaeffer of Toms River, N.J.; brothers, Harold Becker of Hatboro, Edward Becker of Lower Saucon Township; sister, Alice Becker Ridley of Coopersburg; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, brother, William Becker, and sisters, Helen Becker Harkins and Frances Becker Washabaugh. Services: Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. Thursday, October 28, Church of the Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Colesville. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2004, Connell Funeral Home Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. Contributions: May be made to the American Heart Association, 212 E.
