Lewis J. Geiger Jr., 78 years, of Fogelsville, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2008 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He and his wife, Edwina (Upshaw) Geiger, were together for the last 42 years this past May. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Lewis J. Sr. and Mary (Mengle) Geiger. Lew received his bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering and masters degree in metallurgy from Pennsylvania State University. He was a metallurgist in the application department for the BOC Group, Murry Hill, N.J., for almost 30 years, retiring in 1992. Lew joined the adjunct faculty of Lehigh Carbon Community College in 1995, where he was an instructor in both mathematics and chemistry. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Survivors: He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly. In addition to Edwina, his wife, daughters, Sharon, wife of Kevin James, of Chestnut Hill, Mass., Pamela, wife of Mark Jacobs, of Bridgewater, N.J., Lisa, wife of Richard Herban. of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Nancy Chioda of Jersey City, N.J.; son, Mark Chioda and his wife, Dawn, of Clinton Township, N.J.; brother, James of Reading; sister, Mary Mohler of Lancaster; grandchildren, Caitlin, Jennifer, Emily, Sarah, Stephanie, Alison, Ava, Haley and Jason; nieces, nephews. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 18, in Keller Funeral Homes Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville. Visitation noon to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Private interment.
