Mabel Ida Frederick, 96, formerly of Northampton, passed away May 12, 2007 in Phoebe Home, Allentown. Born in Northampton on January 22, 1911, she was the ninth of eighteen children of William P. and Lillie (Clauser) Lerch. Mabel and her late husband, Norman Charles Frederick, were married for 50 years prior to his death in 1981. Mabel, a devoted mother and homemaker, also assisted her husband in operating their potato, grain and livestock farms in Heidelberg Township, 1947-52; Newside area, 1953-60, and Orefield area, 1961-77. She was active in the Heidelberg Church Choir and played in an area kitchen band. She was a life long member of Grace United Church of Christ, Northampton, where she was also a choir member. Survivors: Children, Donald P. Frederick and his wife, Marlene, of Sun City, Fla., Mae M. Jubinsky and her husband, Walter, of Colts Neck, N.J., Ray C. Frederick and his wife, Margaret, of Endicott, N.Y., Shirley A. Frederick of Durham, N.C., Richard L. Frederick and his wife, Barbara, of Whitehall Township; sister, Elise Lerch of Northampton; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2007 in Grace U.C.C. Church, Ninth Street and Lincoln Avenue, Northampton, with the Rev. Sally Zelker officiating.
