Marian S. Menke, 98, of Bethlehem died November 10, 2008 in Bethlehem. Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Peter J. and Anna (McKenna) Smith. Marian was the wife of the late Paul W. Menke. Mrs. Menke was a 1929 graduate of Divine Providence Academy of Pittsburgh and a 1932 graduate of St. Johns General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for Dr. Charles Martin of Pittsburgh for 20 years retiring in 1980. Moving to Bethlehem in 1982, she immediately became active in the Bethlehem community volunteering her time and talents with the Miller Blood Bank for 18 years; the Soup Kitchen of East Market Street in Bethlehem for over 20 years; and Meals on Wheels of Bethlehem for more than 20 years. Marian always had a smile for everyone. She was a member of St. Annes Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Survivors: She will be dearly missed by her family, daughters, Suzanne, wife of Edward Koontz of Denver, Col., and Sally, wife of Lee Snyder of Bethlehem and grandchildren, Drew Snyder and Stephanie Snyder. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Wilbert J. Smith and by her sister, Lorene Schenecker. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2008 at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave., Bethlehem. Viewing will be held, Thursday, from 7-9 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad St., Bethlehem. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, Inc.
