Marion M. Cooper
Marion M. Cooper, 93, of Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth,formerly of Dowling Park, Fla. and Wallingford, Conn. died Saturday, July 29, 2006, at Moravian Hall Square where she had been a resident since 2003. She was born May 21, 1913 in Portsmouth, N.H., the youngest daughter of the late Frank and Louise (Seymour) Marshall. Following graduation from Portsmouth High School in 1932 and Aurora University in Aurora, Ill. in 1936, Marion returned to Portsmouth and became a high school English teacher, a vocation she enjoyed throughout her adult working life. Following the death of her devoted husband, Gerald Cooper in 1968, Marion worked at The Choate Rosemary Hall School in Wallingford as a librarian. Marion enjoyed playing the piano and organ and also teaching womens Sunday school classes. Throughout her life she was an active member of the Advent Christian Churches located in Portsmouth from 1913 to 1938, Wallingford from 1939 to 1984, and Dowling Park from 1985 to 2006. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a teaching sorority. Survivors: Son, Gerald C. Cooper Jr. and wife Gloria of Alexandria, Va.; two daughters, Cynthia L. Gandee and husband Thomas of Edenton, N.C., Susan Cooper Drabic and husband David of Bethlehem; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Marion was predeceased by her brother, Phillip and two sisters, Laura and Florence. Services: A memorial service for Marion will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 26 at Bixler Memorial Church, Advent Christian Village, Dowling Park, Fla. Interment of her ashes will take place later in the fall in Wallingford, Conn. Local arrangements entrusted to Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St. Bethlehem. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Marion to The Good Samaritan Fund, Moravian Hall Square, 175 W. North St., Nazareth, PA 18064.
