Paul Albus Obituary

Paul E. Albus, 80, of Bethlehem passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at home. Born on the South Side of Easton on July 3, 1938, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Schultz) Albus. Paul and his wife Joan (Ferraro) , whom he met at Hess's, were married for 50 years. Paul attended St. Joseph Elementary School, and graduated from Easton Catholic High School in 1956 and Rider College in 1962. He served with both the NJ and PA National Guards. Paul was employed by Hess' for 33 years as a Buyer, Merchandise manager, and Assistant Store Manager. He later worked as a Store Manager for the Charming Stores. Paul enjoyed spending time with family, attending his sons' and grandchildren's sporting events, and serving as a lifeguard in his backyard pool. He was an avid fan of Liberty High School Athletics and the University of Notre Dame. Paul was also a dedicated volunteer for many charitable organizations including Catholic Charities, Ecumenical Kitchen in Allentown, Big Brother's International, and Notre Dame Church of Bethlehem, where he served as a Sacristan and Eucharist Minister. Paul was a member of the Order of Fleas, Liberty Hose Company, and Liberty High School Booster Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons Gregg and Laura Albus of Topeka, KS, Patrick and Jacqueline Albus of Bethlehem Township, PA, Lance Albus of Northampton, PA and Jason and Alyson Brader of Center Valley, PA; grandchildren, Andrew (Becca) Silberman; Ryan, Katelan, Aidan, Chaise and Brielle Albus; Alexis, Jason, Jr. and Gabriella Brader; and sister Rosemary Straub (Charles) of Tatamy. He was predeceased by a brother John H. Albus, and sisters Susan Albus, Joann Albus and Margi Pilz. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church, 1861 Catasauqua Road, Bethlehem, PA. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. in John F. Herron Funeral Home, Inc., 458 Center St, Bethlehem, PA under the direction of Doyle-Devlin Funeral Home, Inc in Phillipsburg, and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to time of Mass in the Church. Entombment will be in Holy Saviour . Cemetery in Bethlehem. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.devlinfh.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul's memory may be made to Notre Dame Church of Bethlehem.

Worked at Hess´s with Paul. Shared the New York bus many times, even visited some of his vendors with him when I was a rookie buyer. Nice man.

So sorry to hear, Paul was the nicest guy. Went to NYC with him on the bus many times. My wife Andrea was his Assistant for a while. Loved seeing him at the last reunion.

Back in the 50's, Paul had a paper route on line street on the South Side and the surrounding area. He recruited me to help him with the route. It was extra money for me and made life a little easier for him. Basically, that was my first job. So sorry to read about his passing. He was a fine man - and a good boss!
