Peter Slivka Obituary
Peter Slivka, 70, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday, July 22, 2009 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the son of the late Peter Slivka and Rose (Litwinetz) Slivka Hydro. He was the loving husband of Virginia (McGinley) Slivka for 49 years. Peter served in the Air Force, from 1956-1960. He was employed by Western Electric and AT& T Technologies, from 1960-1994, as a layout operator and later as a production supervisor. Pete enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending Sundays with family. He often boasted of his talented grandchildren after attending their multiple performances. Survivors: Wife; son, Kevin Slivka and his wife, Rita, of Bethlehem; daughter, Gail, wife of Edward Broczkowski Jr., of Bethlehem Township; grandchildren, Ashley, Brett and Brooke; brothers, Michael of Bethlehem, Paul and Joseph, both of Palmerton; sister, Rosemary Barhight of Bradford, Pa. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews. Services: A viewing will be held Friday, July 24, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in Connell Funeral Home Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Send online condolences to: www.connellfuneral.com.
