Koder, Ralph H.Ralph H. Koder, 90, of New Albany, PA passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Memorial Hospital, Towanda, PA. Ralph was born in Quakertown, PA on September 28, 1924 the son of Henry Oscar Koder and Emma Stella Snyder Koder. He grew up in Quakertown and later served in the U. S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. with the Armed Guard as a gunnersmate aboard a Merchant Marine ship. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the American Campaign Medal. He was a member of the Quakertown School Board for 8 years, the Quakertown West End Fire Company for over 25 years and also held membership with the Historical Society of the One Room School Houses and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 1973, Ralph and his wife Shirley moved to New Albany, PA to make their home. Ralph was employed by Arrow United in Wyalusing, PA for many years until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Shirley M. Snyder Koder of New Albany, daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Bob Spencer of New Albany, son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dawn Koder of Coopersburg, PA, 5 grandchildren, Dion (Coleen) Spencer, Todd Spencer, Stacey and Tim Nybeck all of New Albany, Kristin and Randy Strauss and Shelley and Bryan Spence of Allentown, PA, 8 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Services: A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home 217 York Ave. Towanda, PA with Pastor Michael Dodd of the Evergreen Christian Church.
