Richard Benckini Obituary
Richard W. Benckini, 76, of South Whitehall Township, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012. He was from Coopersburg and the son of the late Paul and Marie Benckini. He was a loving father of six children and six grandchildren. He founded Richard Benckini Landscaping and developed it into a reputable family business. He had a knack for envisioning a complete landscape design. Most customers called it The Benckini Touch. His out-going personality was evident to anyone he met and was known for his western attire with cigar. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed everything in nature. Survivors: Brothers, Ronald and wife Jean Benckini of Coopersburg, Gene of Coopersburg; sons George P. and wife Kristen of Upper Macungie, Jeffrey A. and wife Dena of Breinigsville; daughters Cynthia M., wife of Philip Skotnicki of Haddon Heights, NJ, and Amanda K. of Allentown; grandchildren, Kathryn, Matthew, and Michael, Taylor and Sophia and Blake. He was predeceased by his sons, Richard W., Jr. and Brian A. and wife, Marie. Services: A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday (Tonight), February 7 at Weber Funeral Home, 1619 Hamilton Street, Allentown www.weberfuneralhomes.com. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi R.C.C., 801 N 11th St., Allentown.

My fond memories of Mr. Benckini were his appreciation of my baking goodies from the wonderful apples, peaches and cherries he so generously gave to Keystone employees and his good natured chatter when he called our office. He is missed. My condolences to the family.

Our affiliation with Richard at Keystone Consulting Engineers has been such a positive experience. We will miss the opinions on design and landscaping and visits with apples in the fall when we would exchange gifts and Bobbie our secretary would bake Dick and apple pie. My sympathy goes out to the family.Richard and I were friendly competiors for over forty years while I was the owner of Kuss Brothers.He was very talented man in both the design an execution of projects while always maintaining high ethical standards. We will miss him.

I had the pleasure of meeting this man about 20 years ago when he used to pick up landscaping stone from Eastern Industries. I never forgot his sense of humor and his wonderful personality. Blessed to have met him. May he rest in peace.
