Richard Keen Obituary

Richard C. "Dick" Keen, of Bethlehem, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 in his home embraced by his loving family. He was the husband of Denise G. (Baumer) Keen. They celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on May 21st. Richard was born in Allentown a son of the late Richard S. G. Keen and Waneita (McNulty) Keen. He was a graduate of Liberty High School Class of 1966. Richard was a meat manager for Laneco Food Stores and various other grocery stores before retiring from the Hellertown Giant, in 2014. Dick served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War while stationed in Korea. He played for Northwest Little League, Bethlehem; Slow Pitch Softball for Stahley's Cellarette, M & K Sales, and Sunnyside, while finishing his pitching career with the Holiday Jacks of Palmer Township. Dick volunteered as the Lehigh County Softball Commissioner for many years as well as an umpire. He shot competitively and excelled in a bowling league, pool league, and dart leagues. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed gardening, doing yard work, and home improvement projects. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Dick was an avid Richard Petty Nascar fan, loved Pink Floyd, deep sea fishing and vacationing by the sea. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Hellertown.

Survivors: Wife, Denise; sons, Anthony C. Ciocco of Coopersburg, Brian W. Keen and his wife Heather of New Tripoli; daughters, Kelly S. Werley and her husband Jason M. of Allentown, Rachel D. Keen of Allentown; brother, Robert Keen and his wife Cheryl of South Dennis, NJ; sister, Gwen Adams of South Dennis, NJ; grandchildren, Katrice, Gavin, Dylan, Olivia, Jarod, and Anastasia. Richard was predeceased by his grandson, Elliot.

Services: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 29th in the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 274 North Krocks Road, Allentown. Call 9:00 – 10:00 A.M. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in the Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown. www.stephensfuneral.com.
