Robert LeRoy Bond, 84, of Wind Gap, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the VNA Hospice at University Ridge, East Stroudsburg. Born in Sciota, May 15, 1926, he was the son of the late Dewey and Aita Beatrice Bond. He was the husband of the former Frances H. Paolini, they were married for 55 years. He served in the USN Armed Guard during World War II. He was at Boatswains Mate and was awarded the European Theater Ribbon, the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He enjoyed attending his Armed Guard reunions, maintaining close friendships with those he served with. He was a self taught carpenter and builder and had his own business in the 1960s. He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, Pen Argyl, was a 4th Degree Knight and a member of the Father DeNisco Council of the Knights of Columbus, Bangor and a member of the Wind Gap American Legion. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors: In addition to his wife Frances, he is survived by a son, David R. Bond and his wife Kay E. of Pen Argyl and nieces and nephews. Services: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeths Catholic Church, 300 W. Babbitt Ave., Pen Argyl. There will be a visitation Wednesday from 9:30 till 10:15 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in St. Elizabeths Cemetery, Pen Argyl.
