Bert was a friend of my mom and dad (another Notre Damer) and he was always very playful with us. He was very much loved by us younger generation types. It wasn´t until later that I began to hear stories about how talented he was. I just remembered him as Funny Bert!

I just returned from a trip and, with much sorrow, learned about Bert's passing. For many years when I was an aide and scheduler for US Congressman Charlie Dent (also going back to Charlie's early years as a PA State Rep and State Senator), Bert was a much-used card in our office roladex. He was our "go-to guy" in hundreds of situations, and we could ALWAYS count on Bert's wisdom, his community knowledge and devotion, his dependability, and his immense courtesy. His gruff voice aside, he was a true gentleman in every way, and it was a privilege to have him at the other end of the line. We are a lucky bunch here in the Lehigh Valley to have had him. My condolences to his beloved family.

To Lois and the Family:
Very, very sad to hear of Bert's passing. As you know, he really was one of my favorite people and friends, from the time we worked together at PPL (beginning 16 years ago) and all of the 7:30 AM Sunday masses that we sat together. I will miss him a great deal and I'm so sorry that I won't be able to be at any of the services, as I'm in Las Vegas with my family until Dec. 8th. There is no question in my mind that the Lord will bless and keep Bert close. The Lehigh Valley, Notre Dame, ABVM Parish, and Central Catholic have lost a great, special, friend and pillar of our Community! May God bless you all in this time of your loss.

To the Daday family...from one who spent many hours with Bert when I was President, CEO, Chairman of Mack Trucks, Allentown. We worked together on so many Charity causes and he was always a inspiration to me as with others in support causes throughout the Lehigh Valley. God bless you my good buddy!!

To Bert's family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I was a bit taken back when I saw Bert's obituary this morning. I remember having breakfast with him in 1992 at the Hilton. I was a candidate for Pa State Representative, a nobody really and Joe Uliana introduced us. As it turned out Bert knew my family on both sides and knew my father from softball...we had a nice breakfast. His loss is inevitable at such a late age, but he won't be forgotten for a long time because he'd made his life worthwhile far beyond his family and friends...he effected the entire community, and because of that, he'll be missed greatly. God bless you all and I pray that you heal rapidly. You will be in my prayers.

Maggie,
So sorry to hear about your father. In addition to the many causes he supported, he certainly was a friend to the Soleco Pool. May the lasting memories of your father provide you with comfort during this difficult time.

A great loss of a great man who was indeed the driving force behind the "Lehigh Valley" identity. It was a true pleasure to work with and learn from Bert
on many regional issues.
